Who it helps
Trauma therapy in phases
Adults who have carried trauma for a long time, who sometimes go far away or go blank, and who want a way in that does not start with the worst of it.
Sessions are 50 minutes, once a week to begin. The first sessions are about the present: what helps you stay in the room, what your days are like, and what you would like to be different. When you say you are ready, we begin to turn toward the past, a little at a time, and we always finish in the present.
How it is done
Phase-oriented trauma therapy, the approach many trauma clinicians use
Grounding and resourcing practices first
Work with memory only when you ask for it
A plan for the hours after each session

Good to know
What this is not, how often, and how it is paid
What this is not
It is not a way to retell everything. You do not have to tell it all, and there is no test you must pass to move on.
How long and how often
Your clinician sets the pace with you. There is no promised number of sessions, and you can stay in any phase as long as you need.
How it is paid
You pay for each session at its end. You receive a written estimate before you start and a monthly receipt for your plan.

Questions
About trauma therapy in phases
Do I have to talk about what happened?
No. Many sessions never include details of the past, and you can decide each time how much to say. We begin with the present, and you are the one who says when to turn toward memory.
What if I go blank or feel far away in a session?
It happens, and it is not a failure. Rocío will help you come back to the room with your feet on the floor and things you can see and hear, and then we will slow down.
How do I know when to move to the next phase?
You tell us, and we check in together. Some people stay in the first phase for a long time, and that is a fine way to do the work.
Do you work with people who are in a risky situation now?
Therapy needs a steady footing. If you are being hurt now, or you are in danger, help with that comes first, and the help numbers on this site are the place to start. We will talk it through and help you find the right support.
Ready to take a first step?
Write to us and say what pace would feel right. That is enough to begin.
